AUG Day 2 Wrap Up
TeamMONASH had a great day of competition today.
Monash has two more gold medals! After a very successful two
days on the athletics track, we’re currently sitting in third place overall in
the Men’s Athletics competition. Daniel Leane’s gold medal in the Men’s Pole
Vault was a standout. Daniel vaulted 4.30m’s which was 15cm’s higher than his
closest competitor. Our second gold medal in Athletics came from Toby O’Brien
who won the Men’s 3000 Metre Steeplechase with a time of 9.33.59.
Equally as exciting were the Monash Men’s Table Tennis team who broke a 4 year losing streak to Melbourne University today, with their hard fought 8-3 win over our fellow Victorian rivals.
Men's Table Tennis Team |
Our women’s Squash team continued their winning streak for
the week, with two 4-0 wins against Melbourne University and The University of
Western Australia today. Now in the first position in the competition, they are
in pole position to win the Gold Medal come Friday.
Men’s Soccer had an exciting 1-1 draw with the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), after having an early lead. UTS were last year’s champions so the draw well and truly cements the team’s position at the top.
Unfortunately storms throughout the Gold Coast called a halt
to most of the afternoon competitions today, with a lot of our team’s games
being cancelled or called off due to the weather.
