Team MONASH official Div 1 Nationals Team Captains' announcement

We would like to officially congratulate our two Team Monash captains for UniSport Division 1 Nationals 2019, Maddy Salter and Jacqui Trotto!

Both ladies are brilliant students, athletes and people and we couldn’t be prouder to have such an exemplary pair representing our University as captains in Queensland next week.  

Maddy is a National’s veteran and will be competing as part of the Monash sailing team. The para-medicine student said she is looking forward to making more amazing memories at yet another nationals.  

“The best bit of nationals past has been the amazing friendships I have made with each one of my team members over the years,” Salter said.

“This year I look forward to competing at a high level whilst embracing team culture and having fun.

“Hopefully we (Monash Sailing) can finally bring home the gold after four years!”

Maddy will share the role of team captain with basketballer, Jacqui Trotto.

Jacqui will lead the Monash Women’s basketball team in what will be her fourth consecutive nationals.

Her basketballer’s have won the 3x3 event twice in the past three years and Jacqui said they will be looking for another gold.

“A past highlight for me was winning 3x3 two years straight…but most importantly, all the people I have met and lifelong friendships I have made (along the way),” Trotto said.

Trotto has high hopes for her first year as Team Monash captain, expecting to “win gold, but other than that have a week of good times and (good) weather”.

Congratulations to both of our 2019 Team Captains, we know our team couldn’t be in better hands and you’ll both represent Monash with pride.
