Monash's ultimate frisbee mixed team is returning to Nationals in fine form after coming 2nd at University Mixed Ultimate Championships 2019.
In 2016 Nationals in Perth, the Men's side earned bronze, however Monash ultimate hasn't medalled since - it's time for that to change. The squad spoke with TeamMONASH and had plenty to say ahead of this years competition.
"Earlier in the year we
competed at the University Mixed Ultimate Championships 2019 (UMUC 2019) and finished in
2nd place. Since then, we've added a few additions to our team and hopefully
they'll guide us to victory!"
With a medal in its sights, the squad has set itself the goal of a top four finish; weary of the competition, the team feels well prepared.
"Our goal for Nationals is
finish in the top 4. In the past, Nationals has
been dominated by UNSW and USyd, but based on the results of UMUC 2019, ANU is a
sneaky competitor we need to pay attention to."
The squad has a good mix of experience with the majority of members having represented Monash at Nationals before; superstars Cam Lyon and Michael Truong are set to lead the way.
Excitingly, a couple of debutants will also be kitting up for Monash as well.
"Definitely be on the lookout
for Cameron Lyon and Michael Truong; who have both represented Australia for
Ultimate."
Best of luck to all our frisbee pros, we know you'll do us proud!
