Elite Student Performer Roxana Paun Trifan takes on Australian theatre and film industry

Meet one of our Elite Student Performers Roxana Paun Trifan! 

Roxana is a professional theatre and film actress, and recipient of several international awards and grants for her theatre and film performances. She is currently studying a PhD in Theatre Performance, producing her solo performance ‘Acting Chekhov in Translation’ for her thesis.

Roxana started her first degree in theatre performance in Romania in 1998, and has since worked with Andrei Serban, Eugenio Barba, John Strasberg, Nikolov Perveli Vili, Carlo Mazzacurati among others, for major companies such as National Theatre in Romania, Teatro Stabile 'Giuseppe Verdi' in Italy,  La Comédie Française, MUST Theatre, and the National Opera in Bucharest.

“On stage I feel like I belong, I feel like home. So even in a very new cultural context, such as Australia, which is really new from many points of view for me, I started feeling at home when I started acting,” Roxana said.

“It connects me emotionally with the place, and it connects me emotionally with the audience. It makes me feel complete.”

Roxana has conducted several Intercultural Community Theatre Projects involving undergraduate and postgraduate students, and her research interests involve acting techniques, intercultural performance and theatre healing potential.
