Swimming champ Jack Gerrard shines again on the international stage

Monash Swim star Jack Gerrard has once again done the Uni and country proud in the pool, this time at the 2018 FINA World Short Course Swimming Championships in Hangzhou, China, in December.

The Monash medical student placed 11th on the individual event rankings, clocking great times in the Men’s 200m Freestyle and 100m Individual Medley. The Aussie Men’s relay team came in 5th overall.
Jack represented Australia in individual events and several relays in Hangzhou in 2018.
It was Jack’s first time travelling to China, and he credited the passionate home crowd for the great meet atmosphere.

“Being able to race against China in multiple finals with over 10,000 fans roaring was one of my most memorable and enjoyable experiences in swimming,” Jack said.

“My ears were ringing as I stepped up onto the block, and it was such a privilege to be able to race fast with the rest of the team in that moment.”
Jack said he was "fortunate" to have the opportunity to represent Australia at another international competition.
Jack moved to Melbourne from Far North Queensland in 2010 to focus on his swimming career and education. Last year, he stole the show at the 2018 National University Championships (NUC) at the Gold Coast, coming away with five gold medals, three silvers, one bronze and three games records.
With the Div 1 2019 NUC fast approaching in September, we’re hoping Jack won’t be graduating anytime soon!
