2019 Chancellor's Cup Golf Day wrap-up

Despite the threat of thunderstorms and hail, 80 people turned out to the Sandhurst Golf Club on Friday for the 2019 Chancellor’s Cup Golf Day.

The annual event is an opportunity for members and friends of the Monash community to come together to support the TeamMONASH Elite Student Performer Scheme and Monash University’s affiliated clubs.
The golfers braved chilly conditions to support Monash's student athletes.

Around $10,000 was raised for these programs, thanks to the generous support of all the participants and event sponsors Harris HMC, Monash Electrical, Programmed and UniSuper.

Additionally, almost $700 was raised for the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation in memory of Alysha Waye, a former Monash student athlete who passed away earlier this year.
TeamMONASH honoured Alysha at Div 1 Uni Nationals in September by wearing purple ribbons in memory of the former softball captain.

Golfers participated in an Ambrose style tournament, which was won by team Seek for the second year in a row. Congratulations to team members Allan Sweeney, Michael Ermer, Brian Tomlin and Eoin McGrath for their strong performance.

TeamMONASH director Martin Doulton said the event was a great success.

“The highlight of the day was the amazing camaraderie between all of the people who joined us for the Golf Day, and their willingness to support the University, the Elite Student Performers, and the charity foundation,” Doulton said.
Reigning champion's from Seek retained their trophy, winning back-to-back tournaments.

Participants enjoyed lunch and a formal presentation on the day, as well as novelty challenges such as ‘nearest to the pin’, ‘longest drive’, ‘straightest drive’, and ‘putting green closest’.

Thank you to all our sponsors and supporters for making the day possible!
