Get to know Monash Blue Award winner Alison Downie

Monash Blue winner and footballer Alison Downie
Alison Downie, 2003 Monash University Blue recipient, graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 2008. Alison began her professional sporting career in basketball, playing with the WNBL Dandenong Rangers and winning three WNBL championships and Rookie of the Year in 2002. In 2016, Alison changed professional sporting codes, embarking on a career in Australian Rules football. She was drafted by the Carlton Blues for the inaugural AFL Women’s competition in 2017 and has enjoyed two seasons so far, including being listed in the All-Australian squad and placing 3rd in Carlton's Best and Fairest in 2017. Alison has fond memories from her time at Monash, particularly from the annual University Games in 2003 where she was a member of the gold medal winning basketball team.
